The film follows a struggling working-class family in Egypt. During a children’s birthday party, an authoritarian father is accidentally turned into a chicken by a bumbling magician. When the magician fails to reverse the spell, the passive, stay-at-home mother is forced to step out of her husband's shadow to provide for her three children. This surreal transformation serves as a dark allegory for the rigid patriarchal structures and economic hardships faced by women in Egyptian society.
