Founded in 1967 in Chișinău by composer , Formatia Noroc (meaning "Good Luck") was a pioneer of the "VIA" (vocal-instrumental ensemble) movement in the USSR.

: The sarba is characterized by its fast 2/4 or 6/8 time signature, often accompanied by instruments like the accordion, violin, and saxophone.

: In 1970, they won the "public sympathy" prize at the Bratislava Lyra festival. However, later that year, they were banned by Soviet authorities for "lack of ideological orientation" and "poor artistic quality," leading to a period where they performed under the name Contemporanul (1974–1985).

: There are several professional party bands using the "Noroc" name that specialize in these live instrumental programs, including Formatia Noroc din Braila and Formatia Noroc din Brasov , who release dedicated albums and live recordings of these folk medleys. Notable Works and Recordings
