The story follows Dr. Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton), a lonely academic and scholar of mythology who travels to Istanbul for a conference. While cleaning a decorative glass bottle she purchased at the Grand Bazaar, she accidentally releases a Djinn (Idris Elba).
